Scarecrows take over Hayling Island

Hayling Island will be overrun with scarecrows when the annual festival kicks off tomorrow.

Just about everyone on Hayling Island has been busy building a scarecrow and they are to go on display from tomorrow until August 15.

Residents on the island and visitors are invited to follow the scarecrow trail around the island to view each creation.

All Scarecrow will have their own name and description or caption next to them, so that people following the Scarecrow Trail can find them easily enough.

Prizes will then be awarded in a range of categories, with the public voting for the 'people's choice' scarecrow, which will be announced through the local media at the end of the two-week festival.
