Lethal Bizzle comes to under 18s Valentine’s party

It’s that time of year when we look at our partners and profess our admiration for them. Or, if you’re single, it’s another excuse to get out in town, meet a member of the opposite sex and having a great time on the dance floor.

Unfortunately though, there is a distinct lack of dedicated Valentine’s nights this year.

I’m sure all the bars and clubs will add some sort of twist to their usual Tuesday night though.

Tomorrow night is an event that friends of mine have been raving to me about for a while now. It’s I Love Pure Saturday’s at Pure.

This is a simple club night focused on music and drinks. They’ll be playing the best r ‘n’ b, commercial, dance, house and all of the requests you can fit into four hours.

If you put your name on the Pure Facebook wall prior to the event, you will get in for free before midnight. Otherwise, entry is £2 if you have a student card or £3 without.

Also, Saturday night sees the start of a new chapter for Science. Their first soiree of 2012 is taking place at the Edge of the Wedge.

On the night, they have selectors Lamech aka Rich Jones, Science Chief Rich Archaic and the Backwards Disko trio of Josh, Sam and Jamie. The evening will also see an appearance from the hotly-tipped Friction Machine, who’s quirky and inventive live set will incorporate swirling vocals over electronica laced with sumptuous melodic textures.

The night runs from 8pm until 2pm and admission is completely free.

Something special for college goers is on hand at Liquid & Envy tomorrow night as they present a good, old-fashioned party with One Big Rave.

They promise an impressive list of things to expect including UV cannons, strobes, Ibiza dancers, indoor fireworks, confetti cannons and fire-breathers, plus the event is being filmed for TV so, a great chance to get your face on the box.

Tickets for the event are available at bigcollegeparties.fatsoma.com and cost £10 for standard, £15 for VIP and a group of six can get in for £50.

Finally, a night especially for lovers. My favourite promoters are back and making a difference giving under 18s a place to party in a responsible way. UK Clubculture presents the Love Social Valentine’s special on Tuesday at Liquid & Envy.

The night sees UK artist Lethal Bizzle return, for the second time, to Portsmouth to perform live along with up and coming rap artist Mr ShaoDow.

Resident DJs will also be pumping-up the dance floor with the biggest tunes including house, r ‘n’ b and your favourite pop songs.

Entry costs £7 on the door and includes unlimited soft drinks and a free cloakroom. Information for parents can be found at liquidclubs.com/portsmouth/parent-information
