THEY’VE just celebrated their first decade, but members of the Genesis special needs youth club are already looking forward to the future.

With a Ties and Tiaras ball at the Locks Heath Genesis Centre, dozens of youngsters, their families and supporters marked the group’s 10th birthday.

Gloria Fisher and Sharon Widnell, both from Locks Heath, decided to start the club when they realised there was nothing for their own youngsters, who both have special needs.

Mrs Fisher, of Barnes Lane, said: ‘When we started, the nearest thing like this was in Gosport which really wasn’t practical for people around here. We first hired the hall with a great amount of trepidation, not really knowing what we were getting into, but it’s gone so well and we now have 38 members.

‘The party was great fun. I’ll keep going as long as I can.’
