A Waterlooville father has spent the last year carefully planning and buying his own dazzling lights display to fill his front garden.

Barry Behan has filled his front garden in Gordon Road with more than 16,000 individual LED lights to create his own winter wonderland.

Speaking to the News, the father-of-four said the idea came about after a request from his daughter April, nine, last year.

He said: ‘I’ve never done this before, but I had the idea last October when my daughter said we didn’t have enough lights. That was that really.

‘I didn’t realise how many lights it was going to be.

‘I have been going out every night with the kids. They have been so amazed.’

The display includes a replica lit up Christmas tree, a model of Olaf the snowman from Disney film Frozen, and backing music including Mariah Carey’s festive hit All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Given the costs involved in producing the shows, most of the lights have been picked up on bidding website Ebay.

Shows last for just under an hour, and inevitably the lights have attracted the attention of neighbours and passers-by.

Barry, 42, said: ‘We are out of the way a little bit but we have had some people standing there and watching it.

People have said to me that they haven’t seen anything like it before.’

The display will be kept up throughout the Christmas period, and Barry added that he is likely to be back next year with a new lights show.
