What would be your ideal weekend destination?

I’d have to go somewhere that I could fit as much as possible into a short space of time, like a major city.

I would love to go back to New York one day, so I’ll say there.

Not counting your loved ones, who would be your dream companion?

It would have to be a film director so that I could spend all weekend picking his or her brains.

I’m going to say Martin Scorsese. Not only because I love his films, but also because he seems to know everything there is to know about film history.

Plus, he loves New York.

What music would you take with you?

A beautiful combination of Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Bon Iver and The National.

Music to change your life, in my opinion.

What about something to read?

I’m about to start reading The Iliad, because I never have and I feel I should.

The story is incredible, especially considering it’s nearly 3,000 years old.

What would be your ultimate way to relax?

I find writing incredibly relaxing, even intoxicating, so I’d probably lay back, do some writing, while listening to the aforementioned music.

If money were no object, which shop would you head for?

I’d buy every single DVD in HMV, except White Chicks.

And I love the clothes in American Eagle.

What’s your all-time favourite film?

This changes daily. It’s such a tough question.

Today, though, it’s American Beauty. Great script, great direction, Kevin Spacey – all you need in a film.

We’re buying the drinks tonight. What’s your poison?

I’m a cider man, so a Bulmers or Kopparberg would go down a treat.

Cheers!

What are you doing this weekend?

I’ll be mixing business and pleasure, as I go to a couple of film-related meetings during the days, before meeting up with old friends for a few drinks in the evenings.

What’s a favourite local

destination for a weekend day out?

I love to spend weekend days in Chichester.

I always try and support the independent cinema there, New Park, so I’ll usually take in a film while I’m there too.
