And nowhere is better created to allow such luxury as The Haven, close to the centre of Havant, within walking distance of its station – yet a world away from a hectic life.

The house has been created to encourage relaxation in comfortable surroundings with split-level accommodation that incorporates a pool and leisure complex complete with bar, showers, and a cinema/entertainment room.

Entered at first-floor level, the hallway has stairs to upper and lower levels. On the upper level there’s extensive living space, interconnecting and interacting with the pool area thanks to a reverse curve bay beneath a vaulted ceiling that gives a view from the dining room into the pool complex below.

The sitting room, kitchen, and study are at this level with a glazed wooden screen separating it from the family/games room integral to the entertainment and relaxation area that is such a major feature and boasts a high-grade cinema-style television and accompanying sound system.

On the lower level are three bedrooms, the master part of a luxury suite. The pool area has a separate ladies’ changing room complete with automatic hairdryer and there’s also a wet room space for showers pre- and post-swim in the large pool.

Outside the pool area, forming part of the garden, is a terrace complete with a hot tub for six people.

‘The Haven very much lives up to its name and has been designed from the outset to allow a house that shuts away the outside world,’ says Colin Shairp, of Fine and Country Southern Hampshire.

‘There are busy and successful people who need to be closer to a commercial hub than the typical country retreat allows and for them The Haven is the answer.

‘It has ready access to the railways and roads networks and, since the Hindhead Tunnel opened, central London is within driving distance as are the delights of the South Downs.’
