Sandra Smith, head of promotions at the Kings Theatre, Southsea, talks about her best deal.
'Some years ago, with some of the Kings' pantomime cast, I was in Landports, now Debenhams, enjoying the hospitality after the arrival of Father Christmas in Commercial Road.

'In conversation with fellow guests, a commodore and his wife, she mentioned that it was the custom for the commodore's wife to organise a annual charity event in support of the St George's Naval Benevolent Fund.

'I said why not have some seats at the theatre for the pantomime at a special price and sell them within the navy?

'I thought why not have all the stalls? They hired the entire theatre for a sell-out 'Navy Night at The Kings'. It made a lot of money for the charity and did so for many years.'
