BURGLARS stole jewellery worth more than £10,000 in a break-in.

The thieves smashed a window pane in the front door of a property in Hulbert Road, Havant, to unlock it and get in.

Once inside they searched the home and stole a jewellery box containing a Cartier watch, gold rings, necklaces and cash.

They then fled the scene with the haul between 12.20pm and 2.50pm last Wednesday.

Detective Constable Kirsty Burridge said: 'We are appealing to anyone who may have seen or heard anyone in the street around this time acting suspiciously, or any strangers calling at your address in the last few days.

'Fortunately, this type of crime is not common in the area, but residents should be mindful of their own security, particularly in this festive period.'
