CELEBRATING her 60th birthday, BBC Radio Solent presenter Judy Goodlet felt she needed to mark the occasion.

She decided to make 60 cushions for 60 charities, after a listener said doing something for charity doesn’t have to be about running marathons or giving time.

‘I didn’t think anyone would be that interested in applying for a cushion,’ she said. ‘I hoped to make about £1,000. It seemed a bonkers idea.’

RSPCA-run animal shelter the Stubbington Ark, made a request and Judy presented the cushion to Vanessa Eden, fundraising manager, on Wednesday.

Vanessa said: ‘We are so grateful to Judy for making our cushion which will be used in our Christmas draw.’
