Baby violently sick after drinking out-of-date milk

PARENTS have hit out at a supermarket because their baby was violently sick after drinking out-of-date formula milk.
Baby Tyler was given some carton milk that his parents had bought from Asda.
Within 45 minutes the eight-month-old baby started to be sick. He was ill all afternoon and on the following morning.
When dad Jason Gray and mum Tracey Strevens checked the best-before dates on the cartons of SMA Progress baby milk they found them to be August 27.
That was three weeks before they bought the milk from Asda in Fareham on September 22 – and some time before Tyler drank it.
The superstore in Newgate Lane has apologised and offered a £10 gift voucher as a gesture of goodwill.
The couple have refused the offer and want to warn other parents to be vigilant and check the dates on labels carefully.
Jason, 27, a carer, from James Road, Gosport, said: 'It's horrible to see your kid be sick over and over again.
'Luckily he's been fine since and he seems happy enough now.
'We're not out to rob Asda and get more money out of them, but we don't know how this could have happened.
'We want to let parents know about this because we're concerned the same thing might happen to them.'
Drinking out-of-date milk can also cause diarrhoea but it doesn't pose any greater health risk.
The Fareham Asda manager, Mike Stafford, said: 'I don't know how this went wrong but we do have processes in place. We have staff who go round checking dates on labels and every week trading standards come in to do checks as well.
'But at the end of the day no company is perfect. We do make mistakes.
'We can't say for certain that it was the milk that made the baby ill. Babies are often ill and then fine a few minutes later.
'But we should not be selling anything which is out of date.'
