A senior army officer has been suspended over claims he organised a game of strip poker in Iraq.
It is alleged that Brigadier Andrew Bristow, who is from Portsmouth, encouraged soldiers to strip off during the game and carry out forfeits if they lost a hand.

The game is reported to have taken place in Iraq when Brig Bristow was involved in the handover of Basra to the Iraqi authorities.

It has been reported that Brig Bristow, who was a colonel with the Royal Corps of Signals at the time, was suspended last month while a formal investigation into the allegations was carried out.

The Ministry of Defence refused to comment on the allegations saying it could not talk about individual cases.

But a spokesman said: 'We can confirm that a senior army officer has been suspended, without prejudice, in connection with an investigation into alleged inappropriate behaviour towards service personnel during an operational deployment.'
