The city will be brought to a standstill tomorrow if Pompey bring home the FA Cup.
Thousands of fans can cheer on their heroes with an open top bus tour through the city’s streets.

The victory parade is due to leave Fratton Park at 3pm and travel along Winston Churchill Avenue, Montgomery Way, down Hampshire Terrace, Landport Te
rrace, Kings Terrace, Jubilee Terrace, Pier Road, and on to Clarence Esplanade.

The players will then head for Southsea Common, next to the War Memorial, where they will party on-stage between 4pm and 5pm.

There will be refreshments available at the Common with live music, highlights and FA Cup songs.

Even if the unthinkable happens and Pompey lose the final, the players will go to Southsea Common on a coach where they will be able to thank the supporters for their support and to celebrate a magnificent season.

They will make a short appearance on the stage at around 3pm and the big screen will show highlights of the season.

Portsmouth City Council strategic director Lynda Fisher said: ‘Pompey reaching the FA Cup final for the first time since 1939 is such a fantastic achievement and something the whole city can come together to celebrate.

‘The city council has been working hard with the police and the football club to make sure that, if Pompey win, everyone has the chance to cheer the team home in a victory parade.’

Chief Inspector James Fulton asked fans to behave on the day.

‘We look forward to celebrating with the community and fans of the club a famous victory,’ he said.

‘Clearly the safety of the public is paramount and police resources will be deployed to ensure the event progresses smoothly.

‘We hope everyone will enjoy the day.’
