College adds to call centre staff skills

CALL centre staff are developing their skills and gaining qualifications at Highbury College, Portsmouth.
Twenty-three staff from The Listening Company are enrolled on customer service NVQ courses at the college, and the team managers among them are working towards team leading certificates.

Cliff Jerred, head of training at the company, which employs 900 people at its Portsmouth contact centre, said: 'Many of the students started their courses in March and so far it has been a real success.'

The company, which is based at Enterprise House, Isambard Brunel Road, pays the college fees for its staff.

And it says there are plans to offer staff other development opportunities.
