A series of events are being planned in Portsmouth in a bid to tackle crime and improve the environment.
People are being invited to the programme of events, which are part of the latest Crime Reduction and Environment Week, known as a CREW.

The police, fire service, community wardens and council workers are all involved in the project, based in Cosh
am.

As well as regular police patrols and other work, there are three main events during the week that are open to everyone.

On Wednesday, August 27 a Heath and Wellbeing Day takes place in Cosham precinct. Six NHS screening centres will also be there, with experts on hand to give specialist health and diet advice.

On Friday, August 29 the theme is crime prevention and staying safe, and the police community bus will be in Drayton Park during the morning.

Finally, on Saturday, August 30, there will be an open day at Cosham Fire Station and a fun day at the Paulsgrove Playing Fields next to Allaway Avenue between midday and 4pm.

Inspector Eddie Charlton said: 'It's going to be a very busy week, where you really will find something for everyone. A lot of hard work has gone into these events and I'd encourage people to come down whenever they can and take advantage of some great activities.'

Councillor Jason Fazackarley, Cabinet Member for Environment and Community Safety, said: 'I would urge residents of Cosham and the surrounding areas to get involved in this CREW, as it is all about raising community spirit.

'There is such a variety of activities going on, from health and education advice, to free bike security marking – there's something for everyone to get involved with.'
