The incredible work that hearing dogs do for their deaf owners will be celebrated at Hampshire's first awareness day this month.
Hosted by the charity Hearing Dogs for Deaf People the event will take place in Hedge End to educate the public.

Highlights will include a hearing dog demonstration, short films and presentations during the day.

Gosport-based user Sheila Walker and her hearing dog Tess, who are pictured right, will be attending the morning session.

The charity meets once a month for group dog walks, and recently raised £1,000 at a successful coffee morning.

Jeanette Collett who is chairwoman of the south Hampshire branch, said: 'The dogs give our recipients security, companionship and most of all unconditional love.'

The free awareness day will be held at the Underhill Centre, St John's Church, St John's Road, Hedge End, on Monday, September 22, from 10.30am until 5.30pm.
