Portsmouth is celebrating the 10th anniversary of its close links with sister city Maizuru, Japan, this week.
To mark the occasion it welcomed Japanese visitors to sample some of Portsmouth's attractions.

As well as taking in the sights of the city and the Solent from the viewing platforms of the Spinnaker Tower, the delegates were indulging in Portsmouth's cultural heritage with visits to Southsea Castle and the City Museum.

Councillor Terry Hall, in charge of culture and leisure, said: 'The relationship between Portsmouth and Maizuru gives us a unique opportunity to explore the benefits of links between international cities, including the chance to promote Portsmouth as an international tourist destination.

'I am very much looking forward to showing the delegates all the city has to offer.'

The Japanese delegates arrived on Monday, and plan to stay until tomorrow.

Among the visitors is the Mayor of Maizuru who attended Portsmouth's lord mayor-making ceremony, and the leader of Maizuru Council, who will be working with Portsmouth City Council's leader Gerald Vernon-Jackson to build closer links between the two.
