AN elderly woman was left dumbfounded after a lorry ploughed into her front garden.
The freight lorry smashed into the garden wall and flattened the hedge at the property in Havant Road, Hayling Island, yesterday.

The driver of the vehicle lost control of the lorry as he drove near the junction with Kings Road, Mill Rythe, at 12.45pm.

Irene Rawlings was ironing in her hallway when a neighbour told her what had happened.

She said: 'I was completely dumbfounded. I couldn't believe what I was seeing.

'I didn't hear a thing so I don't know what happened or how it ended up there. The police were marvellous and have given me the man's insurance details.'

A heavy duty recovery truck removed the vehicle about an hour after the accident.

Police confirmed no-one was injured and no charges had been brought against the driver.
