Man faces murder-bid allegation

A man has appeared in court charged with attempted murder.
David John Peter Corkerton, 62, of Granada Road, Southsea, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court accused of trying to kill a 21-year-old man in an incident in Granada Road, Southsea, on Friday.

The victim was taken to the Queen Alexandra Hospital with severe head injuries following the incident at 4.40pm.

Corkerton was committed to appear at Winchester Crown Court in September.

No plea was entered.
