Man hit by train near crossing

A MAN was killed when he was hit by a train.
The incident happened at about 2pm yesterday near the Westgate foot crossing at Chichester, when the Brighton to Portsmouth Harbour service struck a man at 60mph.

British Transport Police and an ambulance attended but the man died at the scene. Officers worked in the area until about 7.30pm.

Southern and First Great Western trains to Portsmouth Harbour, Bosham, Chichester and Havant were delayed up to 30 minutes.

Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
