Man is arrested after cash grab chase
A MAN has been arrested at the end of a chase by police officers after hundreds of pounds in cash was stolen from a tyre centre.
Up to £700 was taken from Auto Tyre Centre Ltd in Dock Road, Gosport, at 2.50pm yesterday.
An unarmed man walked into the workshop, grabbed hold of the money and sprinted out.
Workers tried to chase after the man, then called police.
One officer on foot sprinted after the suspect who ran through gardens and jumped over walls, while officers in cars tried to block him off.
At 3.15pm the man was arrested at the junction of Spring Garden Lane and Mumby Road, Gosport, on suspicion of theft.
The 30-year-old from Portsmouth did not have the cash on him.
Scene of crime officers were yesterday investigating at the tyre centre and checking for finger prints.
