A mother who attacked her neighbour with a kitchen knife has been jailed for eight months.
Janine Walsh knocked on Ian Faithfull's door and then lunged at him with a six-inch blade.
The attack was the culmination of a long-running feud between the pair who lived opposite each other which had begun after their relationship broke down.
In October last year Walsh was given a 12-month conditional discharge after being convicted of harassing Mr Faithfull and writing graffiti across his door.
The dispute flared up again on July 22, this year, when Walsh knocked on Mr Faithfull's door and asked him to get her something from the shops.
He told her he didn't feel well so she returned home.
But the 39-year-old returned moments later with a kitchen knife and knocked on Mr Faithfull's door again.
When he opened the door Walsh lunged towards him.
Mr Faithfull suffered three minor cuts to his forearm and thumb as he tried to restrain his enraged neighbour.
During the struggle Walsh continued to hurl abuse at Mr Faithfull and told him she would kill him if he called the police.
At Portsmouth Crown Court, Walsh, of Nursling Crescent, Havant, broke down in tears as she was jailed for eight months.
Judge Gareth Cowling said: 'You have it in your head that this complainant deserves what you give to him.
'Anyone who equips themselves with a knife, even if it is only to frighten, is viewed very seriously.
'I cannot overlook the seriousness of this offence and I have to mark the offence with a custodial sentence.'
Walsh admitted assault occasioning actual bodily harm and having an offensive weapon.
