Police in East Hampshire are urging residents to make sure their domestic heating fuel is properly secured.
It follows a spate of domestic oil tanks being drained overnight and the fuel stolen.

Similar incidents have occurred on farm estates where self-contained diesel tanks have been left dry. HGV lorries parked overnight at service stations have also been targeted.

PC Philip Stinson said: 'Often the amount of fuel stolen is worth more than £500. With the price of fuel rising, we have seen an increase in this type of crime.'

Anyone with information about these thefts should contact the police on 0845 045 45 45 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
