Pompey poised for strip change

Pompey are set to announce a new home strip amid speculation they will ditch their current Fratton Park colours.
Rumours are rife among fans that the club are going to axe the traditional home strip of a blue shirt, white shorts and red socks.
Instead, it is believed Pompey will stick with the new all-blue kit they played in during the FA Cup semi-final win over West Brom and which will be worn at Wembley against Cardiff on May 17.
Pompey have already revealed their new away strip – an all-white kit with blue trim – being worn by the team tomorrow against Fulham – as well as a new club crest.
Spokesman Gary Double refused to say whether the new home kit would be all blue, but said an announcement would be made soon.
He added: 'We have only launched the new away kit at the moment and we consulted with supporters on the redesign of the badge.
'The kits change slightly each year. Every club changes each year, that's nothing new.'
Fans say a new all-white away kit suggests there will be an all-blue home kit as it would be unusual for a club to have the same colour shorts for both sets.
But not all fans are happy with the reported new image. Jim Bonner, 23, from Bedhampton, said: 'I have heard the new kit is going to be all blue. I don't think they should change it.
'I'm happy it's blue shirt, white shorts and red socks.
'It's a ploy to make a bit more money changing the kit again.
'There's quite a few fans angry about it. We have always played in blue, white and red. I doubt I will be buying the new kit. But some will because they have changed the badge and some will want to keep up with the fashion.'
Loyal Pompey fan Basher Benfield, 44, from Buckland, was more indifferent about a change in strip.
'I would like to see us play in red, white and blue, but it doesn't matter about the kit – it's more important we win the game,' he said.
'I hope we don't stay with the all blue next season but it's more important if they play with the pride and the passion.
'If they play in a suit of armour I don't care – if we win.'
