On her way home to Portsmouth the crew of aircraft carrier HMS Illustrious enjoyed a flypast by the Red Arrows.
The bright red formation of nine Hawks entertained Lusty's crew as she made a brief stop at Cyprus.

The Red Arrows flew from their pre-season training camp on the eastern Mediterranean island.

Illustrious crew member Flight Lieutenant Clare Chalmers said: 'Seeing the Red Arrows was awesome.

'After a long deployment it's always nice to be going home, but it was a real privilege to be treated to a personal display from the Red Arrows.'

The team in the operations room also used the occasion to test their skills and successfully track all nine of the Hawks as they approached the ship.

Lusty is returning from Indian Ocean exercises and is expected in Portsmouth by the end of the month.

But first she will host a reception in Istanbul to be attended by the Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, and Turkish President Abdullah Gul.
