Pompey will paint the city centre blue on Friday as a giant football shirt stretches across Guildhall Square.
The huge replica – which was flown across the sky last week – will be laid out to its full 184 feet by 131 feet in honour of Respect Pompey on Blue2Day.

The campaign aims to encourage thousands of people, old and young, to think more about themselves, their future, their friends and community and their environment. Supporters will be asked to sign the shirt and pledge their commitment.

The event will be supporting Blue 2 Day and collectors from The News will be shaking blue buckets to raise money for the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.

Portsmouth City Council chief executive David Williams said: 'Pompey playing in the FA Cup Final for the first time in almost 70 years is something for the whole city to come together and enjoy.

The giant shirt will be available for signing from 1pm until 5pm.
