A Portsmouth teacher's dying wish is set to help bereaved children.
Lesley Spofforth taught mathematics at Portsmouth Grammar School. Just before she died, aged 49, she had watched the Channel 4 documentary The Mummy Diaries recounting the work of the charity Winston's Wish.
Lesley asked that any money raised in her memory be given to the charity to help its work with bereaved children in Sussex.
And, tomorrow, a cheque for more than £4,000 will be handed to Winston's Wish, which runs its local operation from Pulborough, West Sussex.
The charity's Rachel Bartlett will be presented with the money during morning assembly after the school held a mammoth charity auction.
The lots ranged from a helicopter ride to a swimming costume from the Beijing Olympics where Lesley's eldest daughter, Jemma, was part of the swimming team.
Winston's Wish is kept busy because over 50 children a day in Britain are bereaved of a parent.
