Youngsters got to experience what it's like behind the wheel of a fire engine as firefighters opened up their station to the public.
More than 600 people visited Waterlooville fire station for a day of family fun on Saturday.

Fire engine rides were organised by retired firefighter Ronald Hobby, who was delighted to see queues of excited children.

He said: 'The children loved it. They are not usually allowed to ride in fire engines. We took them round the village and back to the station and they gave a donation to the Firefighter Fund which helps firefighters' families if they have been killed or injured.'

The station's watch manager, Craig Sadler, said: 'It has been fantastic, even the changing weather hasn't affected the positive vibe.'
