IT’S the quintessential English delight – a piece of home-made cake and a steaming mug of tea or coffee.

And it certainly went down a treat as hundreds of people turned out to the Sacred Heart Church in Waterlooville for a charity coffee morning.

The event was part of Macmillan’s World’s Biggest Coffee Morning this month.

The Waterlooville event raised £400 for the charity.

Elizabeth White has been doing the charity coffee morning more for than a decade.

It started in her living room, but got so popular that she had to expand.

The new facilities at Sacred Heart Church have proved to be the perfect venue.

Mrs White said: ‘It went really well. We had a steady stream of people all morning.

‘The cake stall was a great success.

‘It was a very nice sunny day so that was great. Everybody gets touched by cancer, so lots of people came to support it.’
