STAFF at Fareham Borough Council held a dress down day for our Blue Day 12 in aid of the Tom Prince Cancer Trust.

Dozens of workers paid for the privilege to wear blue to help raise funds for the cause and turn the area the colour of its football team.

Ashley Withers, customer service advisor, said: ‘It’s the first time I’ve ever done anything for Blue Day.

‘To be honest I didn’t really know much about it before we started to organise our involvement this year, but now I see just how worthy a cause it is.

‘And the fact that its local makes it seem even more important to support.

‘It’s been really fun – I’ll definitely take part again next year.’

This is the first year that the council has taken part in the event which sees thousands across the area host blue-themed fundraisers.

Becca Bennett, a spokeswoman for the council, said: ‘There was a really nice atmosphere in the office, everyone put a lot of effort into it.

‘We’ve had a few fundraisers now and they always get a good reaction.’
