NEVER mind the London marathon – there are easier ways to complete a 26-mile run.

The Rainbow Centre, for youngsters with cerebral palsy, is hosting a marathon in instalments.

Anybody from able-bodied runners to those in wheelchairs can complete a 26-mile route over a number of weeks at the centre in Palmerston Drive, Fareham.

The first instalment was on Saturday.

Community and events fundraiser Julie Woodward said: ‘It was really good.

‘It’s incredible how quickly you can do those laps because you’re just walking around and talking.

‘We had a couple of people who did eight miles on the first day.

‘The important thing is anyone can do it.’

The mini-marathons take place from now until July 9 on Saturday mornings from 10am to noon and Wednesdays from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The event is still open to anyone who wants to take part.
