SEWING enthusiasts perfected their stitching skills at a needlework class.

The group – which meets on a Tuesday morning and a Thursday evening in Stubbington Library, Stubbington – picked up a few tips from their tutor Sandy Colbeck.

Sandy comes from a family of professional needleworkers and now passes on her wisdom to all abilities, from beginner to experienced sewers.

She said: ‘It’s great when you see people develop and surprise themselves by achieving something they thought they couldn’t do.

‘I believe that anyone can do whatever they want as long as they have been shown properly and have a positive attitude.

‘Once you get your head around sewing then it isn’t really that difficult.’

The classes run in six-week courses and cost £39 per course. There are six courses in the academic year and classes do not run during the school holidays to avoid parents missing sessions.
