An accident caused rush-hour delays on the A27 in Portsmouth.

The collision, which happened on the westbound carriageway of the road near to M27 junction 12 at 7.30am today, involved two vans and two cars.

One lane was blocked for half an hour while a Vauxhall Corsa was recovered.There were no injuries.

Damage was caused to the crash barrier in the accident in the outside lane. One of the vans was left pointing in the wrong direction in the accident.

Signs displaying slower speed limits were put in place and removed by 8.05am.

Staff at the Romanse traffic control centre said that during the incident the outside lane was blocked and queues were stretching back to the A3M.

Steve Carr, of Hampshire Constabulary’s control room, said: ‘Police and ambulance were requested, but there were no injuries.’
