IT WAS a great honour for all those involved when Bear Grylls touched down at a Scout camp.
The adventurer and chief Scout visited Ferny Crofts Scout Activity Centre near Beaulieu where he met and spent time with Scouts from Portsmouth.
As well as asking him about his trips around the world, the youngsters took part in activities with him showing how much being a Scout has taught them.
Bobby Kerr and Ryan Patourel, both 14, were given the responsibilities of showing Bear the science and technology section of the camp.
Bobby, of the 53rd Portsmouth Scouts, said: ‘Camp was a truly brilliant experience because we got to engage in fun activities.
‘Ryan and I were given the honour of meeting and greeting Bear as he visited the site.’
Ryan, from the 5th Portsmouth Scouts, added: ‘A highlight of camp was definitely welcoming Bear.
‘He greeted us with a big smile and a handshake – it was a great honour to meet him.’
Bear spent the weekend visiting a number of Scout sites.
He said: ‘I was super excited to visit the Scouts in Hampshire.
‘I met a lot of inspiring young people who play a positive part in the adventure that Scouting provides.’
