ADVICE on the importance of keeping warm in the home this winter is on offer at a city centre event.

Portsmouth City Council is to put on a display of hats, gloves and scarves to represent between 150 and 300 cold-related deaths in the city last winter.

It will mark the launch of the ‘Keep Warm, Keep Well’ campaign and information will be on offer at the event on Friday.

Councillor Leo Madden said: ‘In Portsmouth too many people are suffering from the cold each winter. The cold weather tends to affect older residents, many of whom live on their own, so it’s important to let them know that there is help and advice available.’
