CITIZENS and young citizens of honour in Fareham enjoyed an afternoon tea as nominations for next year’s awards are opened.

The town’s mayor Councillor Mike Ford and his wife Anne hosted the event for the seven citizens of honour in the mayor’s parlour.

The seven are Open Sight volunteer Dee Batu, Fareham Lion Vic Rutland, Asda Community Life Champion Sharon Noble and cricketer Tony Brown, and young citizens Tiffany Desmond, Charlie Wilson and Harry Smith.

They were presented with framed certificates and photos of them receiving citizen of honour badges at the mayor-making ceremony in May.

Cllr Ford said: ‘It was great to give the winners their framed certificates and have a catch up after meeting them earlier this year.

‘The things our residents do to help others never fail to amaze me and each of them deserves to be recognised.’
