CHILDREN with disabilities enjoyed a day on the water — dressed as pirates.

The sailing trip was organised for the children by the Fareham Sailing and Motor Boat Club.

A group of 100 children - 50 from Fareham-based charity Kids and 50 children from the Rainbow Centre - spent the day at the sailing club at Lower Quay, Fareham.

They were brought back to dry land for a barbecue at lunchtime.

Kitty McMonagle from Kids said: ‘It was a wonderful day.’

The sailing club puts on the event every year free of charge for the children.

Kids works with disabled children, young people and their families.

The Rainbow Centre helps children with cerebral palsy and adults suffering from a stroke, MS and Parkinson’s disease.
