Members of the Ben Ainslie Racing team are preparing to run the London Marathon.

Team member David ‘Freddie’ Carr is hoping to get a new personal best.

He ran the race in 4hrs 4mins in 2006.
He is running with colleagues David Markey and Sarah Alexander, BAR’s press officer, on behalf of the team’s official charity, the 1851 Trust.

The volunteers have stepped forward to raise cash for the BAR visitor centre at the Camber Dock in Old Portsmouth.

Alasdair Akass, the 1851 Trust’s chief executive, said: ‘It’s heartening to see all sections of the BAR team coming together in support of the trust.”

‘Every penny they raise will be especially important to us as we work towards opening a world-class visitor attraction and create new and exciting opportunities for young people to get the very most out of the marine environment.’
