FIREFIGHTERS were called to a high-rise building after reports of a blaze.

Five appliances from Cosham and Southsea stations went to a block in Clarendon Road, Southsea, yesterday at 4.29pm.

But when firefighters arrived they realised smoke from cooking had set off an alarm and there was no fire.

The crews called off the action at 5.03pm after the false alarm.
