TWO lucky children won the chance of a lifetime – to have dinner with their Pompey hero Linvoy Primus.

Andy Sharples, five, and his sister Vicky, seven, took part in the Easy Freezy competition to win a meal with the football legend.

The youngsters were among dozens to enter the competition after their family tried out various Easy Freezy recipes – which are home-cooked meals that can be frozen and used as ready meals. They then had to write a short piece about their favourite recipe and why Linvoy would like it.

Vicky said she liked the fish pie best ‘because it tastes so yummy and helps me swim like a fish’, while Andy said Linvoy would like the spaghetti Bolognese because ‘he would love sucking up the worms – they would fill up his tummy’.

The siblings from Southsea, were over the moon when they won the chance to enjoy an Easy Freezy dinner and dessert with the footballer at Fratton Park.

Vicky said: ‘We were really pleased to win. We’ve been excited about meeting Linvoy and having dinner with him.’

The youngsters’ parents Liz and Nick joined them for the VIP meal.

Liz said: ‘The kids were chuffed to bits when they heard they’d won and they were really excited about meeting Linvoy.

‘It’s a great competition and a good way to teach the kids about the importance of healthy eating.’

The Easy Freezy campaign was launched in January and aims to encourage people to ditch the unhealthy frozen meals from supermarkets, and make their own healthy dinners that can be frozen for another day.

Parents from all over the city have embraced the idea and have now adopted the easy freezy way of life.

Former Pompey star Linvoy, who backed the campaign from the start, said: ‘The Easy Freezy campaign is a great idea and helps raise awareness about eating healthy food.

‘This competition was great too – I get a nice meal out of it for starters.

‘But seeing the kids here and how young they are, it shows the campaign’s raising awareness with children too, which is great.’
