AN ANIMAL rights group has announced plans to demonstrate against the Wickham Research Laboratories site in Gosport.

The annual demonstration, which attracted more than 100 protesters last year, is set to take place on Saturday, September 15.

The protest will see demonstrators march through Fareham town centre and will be followed by a protest outside the laboratory site on Barwell Lane in Gosport.

The march, which will see extra police officers in the town, is organised by the Stop Wickham Animal Testing Group who describe their aims as a ‘campaign to highlight the crude, archaic and extremely cruel animal tests’ that they allege take place at the Gosport-based firm.
