Appeal for return of five missing rings

GRANDFATHER George Betteridge is desperately hoping five rings with sentimental value are returned to him.

The 76-year-old says he lost the prized jewellery a fortnight ago when he went to the Matalan store, in Portsmouth, and had put the rings in his pocket to put on later.

When he reached inside he noticed they were missing.

One is his wedding ring, which was custom-made by his wife Pauline, 73, when they got married 53 years ago. It is a plain gold band.

The second is a gold plated ring, with the word ‘dad’ on top.

Another is a nine-carat gold ring with a buckle design, which was given as a Christmas present by his wife. The fourth is another wedding band, which is nine carat gold.

The fourth was a signet ring that was given as a 50th wedding anniversary present.

Retired George, of Beresford Road, North End, said: ‘I’m upset I’ve lost these rings and just want them back because they mean so much to me.

‘I’m offering a reward to anyone who can bring them back.’

If you have information about the missing rings then call (023) 9262 2130.

All we ever hear about every day is innocent people attacked in the street, robbed in thier homes and now robbed in broad daylight! I call for Cllr Stagg to resign her position in the Cabinet. Community Safety be damned. There is no safety in this city. Shame on you!!!
