Police have arrested a 16-year-old boy on suspicion of arson after a fire broke out at a block of derelict flats.

Firefighters and police officers attended the incident on Nimrod Drive in Rowner, Gosport, opposite the Tesco superstore.

Five fire units - one from Havant, Hightown and Fareham and two from Gosport - were called out at around 7.45pm to tackle the blaze.

The fire was put out by 8.30pm.

George Roberts, who lives close to the flats, said: ‘I saw a kid on the balcony and then I saw flames.

‘Then all these firefighters turned up along with police officers.’

No-one is believed to have been injured in the fire.
