PEOPLE enjoyed a weekend full of events to mark Portsmouth Festivities.

Throughout Portsmouth and the surrounding areas, people enjoyed exhibitions, music and shows.

At the Diving Museum, in Gosport, underwater artwork was on display.

Organiser Margaret Marks said: ‘We wanted to see people’s takes on what it means to be underwater.

‘I was very pleased to see what response we got. We have everything from films, paintings, photographs, textiles, the whole range of works.

‘The interpretations were amazing. Some people are full-time artists, others are amateurs but the quality is so high. We had children enter pieces too.’

Portsmouth Festivities started on Friday and more events continue tomorrow. They include:

n Andy Robertshaw marks the anniversary of the Battle of the Somme delivering four lectures on the famous battle with a Q&A to follow afterwards. Tickets cost £5 and his lectures are at 1.30pm, 3pm, 5pm and 6.30pm.

n Electrically eccentric Albert Road; Performance of Portsmouth musicians celebrating the music of Albert Road at the Kings Theatre. Tickets cost £7.50. It starts at 7pm.
