PARENTS in Portsmouth have bucked the trends when it comes down to naming their children.

A report by baby names website Bounty has revealed the most popular names for newborn girls in the city are Grace, Evie, Chloe, Poppy, Isabelle and Daisy.

For the boys it’s George and Tommy which are proving popular with parents in the area.

In Portsmouth overall, the most popular name for boys in 2012 was George and the number one name for girls was Amelia. In the rest of the country, older names such as Elsie, Frankie and Arthur are growing in popularity.

Amelia and Harry are the two 
most popular names of all.
