FIREFIGHTERS were called to a home in Havant after a bonfire got out of control.

A crew from Havant fire station were called to the home in Barncroft Way after the alarm was raised at about 10pm on Saturday.

The back garden fire was reported to have contained a large amount of sheet metal and builders’ waste, which was well aflame when the crew arrived.

The firefighters spent about an hour at the scene putting it out and damping it down to make sure it wouldn’t reignite.

No-one was hurt during the incident and the fire was caught before it managed to spread to any of the nearby buildings.
