BAD weather has caused the Christmas lights switch-on in Gosport to be cancelled.

Organisers of the event, which was supposed to happen this evening, tweeted that high winds is forcing it to be cancelled.

Along with the switch-on, Wave 105 were providing music with activities for children also set to take place in the high street outside the Discovery Centre,

The centre tweeted: ‘It is with enormous regret that the Gosport Christmas Lights Switch on has been cancelled due to high winds.’

The Met Office put out a warning this morning for strong winds in the south of England.
