Bar licence hearing delayed

Those halcyon days when pen and paper just worked!

THE owners of a late-night bar face an anxious wait to learn whether it will lose its licence after a hearing was postponed.

The fate of Roast Bar in Guildhall Walk, Portsmouth, was due to be decided by the city council's licensing sub-committee yesterday. But the hearing has been delayed.

Roast Bar is allowed to sell alcohol from 11am to 3am seven days a week.

But its licence could be revoked after police raised concerns over alcohol-fuelled trouble.

Officers say their attempts to work with the bar have failed. Roast's management denies the claims. The hearing will now be held on February 10 at Portsmouth Guildhall.
