THE latest barbecue safety demonstration session is due to take place this weekend.
The scheme has been launched by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service, following call-outs to incidents where barbecues have got out of control.
The next demonstration is near the B&Q store, in Purbrook Way, Purbrook, on Saturday from 10am to 3pm.
Community safety liaison officer, Mark Jones said: ‘Barbecues are regularly enjoyed by many people.
‘But there are some serious dangers involved; such as using petrol to light them, leaving one unattended, and the dangers of carbon monoxide poisoning by taking a barbecue into a tent, to name a few. People should not dispose of barbecues in plastic bins.
‘The demonstrations are a great way to get handy tips.’
