Battle of Bands competition has strong message of railway safety

ACTS will be battling it out in a Battle of the Bands to raise awareness of the dangers of playing on railway lines.

The semi-final of Changing Tracks takes place at the Fawcett Inn, Southsea, on Saturday, from 5pm.

Musician Paul McDonald set up the competition in 2006 because he lost an arm in an accident when he was 12 while train surfing – trying to jump on a moving train.

Ten acts will hit the stage to win up to £800 worth of prizes, including recording packages.

Performances will come from Shoot The Duke, Siberian Noise, Hollowdrone, Last Chance City, Penny Churchill Music Acoustic, Angry Joe, The Machete, ISCALIS, Igloo and Sevensmith. The best four will go on to the grand final on August 30. Tickets are £3.50. Go to cravintunez.com.
