VOLUNTEERS have sifted through rubbish collected in a beach clean and survey.

As reported, members of Lee-on-the-Solent Litteraction and Marine Conservation Society cleaned Lee beach on Saturday.

In just an hour they found a torch, floor lino, part of a plastic chair, a toothbrush, part of a boat’s rubber fender and even a small safe.

More ordinary pieces of rubbish included 250 bottle caps or lids, 198 cotton bud sticks, 287 pieces of string or rope and 351 pieces of plastic.
